Red symbolizes the blood of martyrs who sacrificed for national independence; yellow symbolizes the country's rich mineral deposits and resources; also represents Ghana's original name "Golden Coast"; green symbolizes forests and agriculture; and black Pentagon symbolizes the Polaris of African freedom.
